TIME:

10am to 5pm

The Jubal Early Homeplace and grounds will be open for a day of tours, talks, and string music. There will be a Civil War Living History exhibit on the grounds. Tours of the Home and Office will be conducted by docents in period attire. Educational talks will be conducted throughout the day. Jubal Early is most noted for his role as a General in the Civil War, but his pursuits before and after are quite vast and will be discussed during your visit. He was at various times: graduate of West Point, Soldier in the Seminole Wars, Lawyer, Politician, Commonwealths Attorney for Franklin and Floyd counties, member of the Virginia House of Delegates, Major in the Mexican War, and in later life served as President of the Southern Historical Society. The Early family owned about 4,000 acres in this region, and the Early Homeplace has been restored and preserved to capture a portion of Franklin County's history and heritage.
